spyderfyngers: (Sweet dreams are made of paranoia)

I think my skin is getting paler, thanks to [profile] phable and his magical cider vinegar. Dad came in from work two nights ago and gave me a concerned look before asking if I was ill. I miss the heat and the sun, but I don't miss yellow skin.

I need to visit the Ipswich craft market soon and find some ribbon for the little pewter key charm I bought. I want to dangle it from a choker. I already have some black velveteen, but I'm using it for my jet heart charm and it's a pain to untie. I'd like to make my own jewellery. Particularly image reliquaries, but I don't know how to get the images onto something solid. Other than using glue. And I'm sure that's not how it's done.

Dad's offering to take me to Kelmscott Manor on Wednesday! I'm disproportionately excited. He's going to be bored out of his mind, and I know I'll embarass him by scurrying from room to room squeaking violently becuase 'there's the very sofa on which blah blah blah happened!' and 'sweet merciful crap, that's so-and-so's pyjamas!'

I cannot wait.

Oh, say hello to Kelmscott for me! I went there a few years ago and loved it. It is such a beautiful place, and one feels so close to Morris and Janey and everyone there.

I'm so excited. I've been reading about it for so long, and now I'm actually going be there! It sounds so silly, but I get really excited about seeing these places; like going on a pilgrimage. It's one of my favourite periods in history, and it's not so long ago that everything's in ruins.

It doesn't sound silly in the slightest, I was really over the moon when I went there. I'm just mad to go and see the Red House in Eastern London, now that they've restored it. Next time I'm there, I'm going to do it! I also want to visit a few more neighborhoods and artists' houses. I've been to Lord Leighton's House which was lovely and I've seen the Burne-Jones' house in Rottingdean, but not very closely.

I made a choker for you and I can't find it. It's hematite, a stone that is used for blood disorders (thus hematite, of course) and kidney disorders. I have no idea where I put it!

There is a type of Sculpy or Fimo clay that can be used for images. You put the image on the clay, fire it (in the oven - no need for a kiln), scrape off the paper when it's done, and the image has transferred to the clay. I might try it in an attempt to make mourning jewelry, but I have an aversion to burning down my home and I'm not sure about sticking photos into the oven.

For the ribbon, you probably need this kind of clamp. You add a regular clasp to that and you don't need to keep untying it.

If you want to try making your own jewelry, this site has tons of instuctions.

Oh wow, Thora, thankyou! :D

I love hematite. I don't have enough hematite jewellery. Thankyou so much for thinking of me. :)

There's a picture I have, but not an actual photograph. I'm not sure a print-out would work. I might be able to slip it into a locket, but I'd rather have it on show. I'll take a look at those links, thanks. You're extremely resourceful, Thorakins. :D
