I've finally got round to scanning those Victorian photographs in.

None of them are dated, but quite a few in the box were 1880-ish.

Hamlet has seen better days.

I chose this one for the sinister autograph. "You know me now". It could be a line from Money, which I have somewhere, so I'll have to check. However, I prefer to believe there was something dodgy going on.

Jan's going to smoke! Jan's dress is exquisite. Shame it's going to smell like an ashtray by time she's finished.

I'm seriously tempted to go back and buy more. I just need pretty frames to put them in.

Oh these are nice! I have two sideshow cabinet cards of albino ladies that I really should have framed. I love them.

I love Victorian albino photographs. All that white hair!

Ooh - nice haul!

*Squints.* Er, is that Onan something-or-other as Hamlet? No, surely not - even if it'd lead to a terrible joke about being surprised at him holding the skull with both hands.

Must be "Chas".

Incidentally...

...there's a painting of Alma Murray by Bassano in the National Portrait Gallery.

Bit of thesp/art trivia for you there!

Oh, thanks. I hadn't heard of her until I found the photograph. I shall have to look her up.

Hee!

I like the way 'Onan' has his fingers in the skull's eyesockets, bowling ball style.

That sound you can hear?

Shakespeare, doing a 360ยบ rotation in his grave.

(Sorry, Bill.)

Those are fabulous!

Arrrrgh! The frustration of living someplace where "historic" consists of buildings that have been standing since 1953. (All 4 of them.)

It's about time we tried an immigration scam. I'm sure I can find two British people who'd like an American wife and husband. There's your visa sorted.

Ha! Americans will be the mail order brides (and grooms) of the next century.
